Water Kettles

A hot water kettle is one of the easiest, quickest ways to boil water for any and every hot water need from an exquisite cup of tea to a bowl of instant oatmeal.  Kettles with their own heating elements run off of electricity, others require a heat source like a stovetop.  With today's selection, they come in a variety of shapes and styles, from basic to high-tech and can offer as many frills as you'd like.  Almost nothing could be easier than simply filling a kettle, waiting approximately 5 minutes and havinging enough hot water to go around for 5 to 6 cups.  They are ideal for any kitchen and make especially good gifts for freshmen headed off to dorm rooms and singles starting out in a studio apartment.

Water Kettle by Type

Electric Water Kettle

The most popular type of water kettle is probably the electric water kettle.  With heating capabilities that allow for rapid boiling, generally even faster than a standard microwave could perform, they are prized for both their speed and ease of use.  They are often available in cordless styles as well, which means the kettle itself detaches from the base, allowing you to carry it to any room in your home and use it as a serving carafe.  They are also valuable for the many safety features they are equipped with, making you and your home safe from fire hazards associated with stovetop water kettles.  The chance for dry-boiling is eliminated thanks to standard auto shut-off checks.  Because electric water kettles are so efficient and do not ever over-heat, they also have a smaller carbon footprint than stovetop kettles.  This makes them the most eco-friendly way to boil water.

Stovetop Water Kettle

If tradition is more your style, stovetop water kettles have certainly not yet been replaced by electric water kettles.  In fact, you can find an extensive variety of styles, ranging from sleek and modern to very traditional.  While a stovetop water kettle will take slightly longer than its electric counterpart, there is a certain experience to a stovetop water kettle that adds to drinking a cup of hot cocoa or hot tea.  Gathering around the kitchen table and waiting for the whistle of a tea kettle is appealing for many households.

Tea Kettles

At Coffee Home Direct, we have a wide range of kettles ideally suited for tea.  Remember, tea kettles do not brew tea, they are simply to heat the water to allow you to brew your tea elsewhere. Some of our most popular tea kettle brands include: Cuisinart, Medelco, Sunpentown, Kalorik. Whether you choose plastic or stainless steel, the choice generally comes down to look and personal preference.  Both will boil water rapidly and cut down your wait time for a cup of tea.  Keep in mind that if you are wary of chemicals from plastic, be sure to double-check to ensure that the plastic tea kettle you are viewing is BPA free.  To make your decision process easier, we will always point out this feature for you!
